SEND

Shenley Brook End School is committed to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to fulfil their potential. The Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Team plays an important role in this.

The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), Specialist SEND Teacher, SEN administrator and team of teaching assistants work in a variety of ways to reduce and remove barriers to learning and achievement for students whose needs cannot be met through Quality First Teaching alone.

Through liaison with the school’s pastoral teams and subject specialists, support is coordinated and promotes students’ overall well-being in addition to fostering their academic progress. More targeted and personalised provision is made for students in their lessons and outside class. Throughout the year teaching assistants contribute to the delivery of exam access and assessed task arrangements.

The SENCo works with the Milton Keynes SEND Team and other external agencies such as Speech and Language Therapy (SALT), Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Children and Family Practice (CFP).

The school is committed to the development of students’ independence and sense of responsibility and encourages their active involvement in dialogues relating to their support and the reasonable adjustments their teachers can make in their lessons. The involvement of parents and carers in the planning and review of a student’s support is fully encouraged.

Local Offer information in the form of answers to 14 questions is available click here. The school’s SEND information report is also available click here. Nicola Partridge - Team Leader SENCO.
