Shenley Brook End School

Sixth form Open Evening - 2021

On 11 November 2021, we are hoping that our Open Evening event will be face-to-face and we are planning that it will be so. If, at the last minute, we are instructed to go virtual by the Government again then we shall let you know as soon as we know. However, we are very much looking forward to inviting you to come to our Open Event and we want you to be able to walk around our modern facilities and to speak to our talented staff and students.

Even if your child already attends Shenley Brook End School in Year 11, the Sixth Form is a very different experience. Therefore, we would want any student interested in a place at our successful, over-subscribed sixth form to have a look around and to ask as many questions as possible of our teaching staff and Sixth form students.

The Sixth Form entrance doors will open at 5.30pm and the order of the evening will be:

  • 6.00pm a talk from myself, our Head Boy and Girl and our Headteacher Mr Holmwood. You will have the opportunity to ask questions when the talk is over.

Seating is limited so, if you cannot attend this talk you would walk around the school visiting classrooms, study facilities and dedicated Sixth Form areas – of which we have quite a few. You would be able to talk to the teachers who deliver A levels and also quiz students who are currently taking A levels.

  • 7.00pm the talk will be repeated for parents and students who had  missed the first one – thus allowing students and parents who attended the first talk to then visit our facilities.

To allow us to limit numbers please can we ask that you book a time slot for our talks:

I relish the opportunity to show you the school and to show off our newly refurbished Sixth Form study and café facilities as our Sixth Form areas are now second to none.

Once you have attended the evening you can then complete the on-line application form through the dedicated Applicaa software. You can also see, in much more detail, subject information, entry grades and what other non-academic opportunities we offer in our prospectus. All you need to do is do your best in your GCSE exams and then wait for your GCSE results in August 2022. It may seem like a long way off, but these important dates have a way of creeping up on you.

In terms of Covid safety, we have chosen to open up most of the school building as this allows you to visit the actual classrooms that subjects teach in, but it also allows you to have plenty of space to keep your distance. In the talks we would encourage you to wear masks for your own safety and for the safety of others.

On the evening, we will supply you with a map of the school and a physical copy of the Prospectus to take around with you.

November 11 is not that far away and myself and the Sixth Form team look forward to meeting you on this date.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to e-mail us on or ring us on 01908-524102.
