The Application Process and next steps

* NOTE - we are no longer offering A Level French or the PE (BTEC) Triple

The application deadline has now closed. You are very welcome to still apply and this would be treated as a late application. To make a late application please click this link

It is important to the Sixth Form team that the application process is as clear as possible and so I will explain what happens next and when. Please watch the video below:

What are the next steps?

Do nothing!

What I mean by is – do nothing in terms of your application, of course. Work hard and do the best that you can in your GCSE subjects. Do not forget that we have entry requirements for A levels.

Remind yourself of the entry requirements by looking at the Sixth Form Prospectus here.

We will contact you at least once per month for regular updates and can always be contacted via e-mail at school –

We aim to have an informal interview with every applicant but, with over 500 applications, this will take some time. We will offer potential students an interview, but you do not have to have an interview. It would be lovely to speak to you about your application of course, if possible.

We will start the application interviews in February and will work on them throughout the coming months. We will have to fit them in and around teaching and lessons times, but we aim not to disrupt precious lessons wherever possible.

We will contact you in advance to offer you an appointment.

Taster day

Every year we want to provide students with the chance to have a “taste” or  “experience” of what it is like to be in a sixth form so we will have one taster day at the start of July. We would normally know the date of the day by now, but, due to the current disruptions we do not know the exact date yet. It is very likely that this event will be virtual.

Fast forward to August – results will be issued on Thursday 12 August. You will enrol online once you have your results.

However, even though you have applied for a place in our Sixth Form you MUST still enrol in our sixth form. You may have made many different applications to various other schools, but you can only enrol on ONE school or college. You would enrol on or around results day.

NOTE – in 2020, our sixth form was full on the second day after results day. Therefore, please enrol as soon as you can. Once we are full we close enrolment into the school

I look very much forward to meeting you in the future.

Mr Greenhalgh

Director of Sixth Form
