Virtual Taster Day

Introduction to Taster days – Wednesday 1 July – 9.00am to 3.15pm Via Microsoft Teams

Schools are closed and so cannot have the face-to-face taster days we would have wanted and so, as an alternative, we have one virtual taster day. On this day we intend to introduce students to the courses they will be studying.

We will send all relevant information needed such as the plan for the day, safeguarding and how to log-in to the day before the event. However, before the Taster day we need to know WHO will be attending. Therefore, could you please click on this to complete the on-line questionnaire so that we can send out the necessary details of the day.

In addition to this guidance we need parental permission for students to be involved in the taster day – there is a slip to send back to school or parents can e-mail us directly from your parental e-mail address, so we know students have been given permission. This will be in relevant documentation sent out to students and parents. E-mails should be sent to

If this parental permission is not given a student will not be able to access the taster day live lessons. This is to fully comply with GDPR regulations.

The timetable for the day is very simple – see below how it works out:

1 July

Virtual Taster Day for SBE

9.00am – 09.25am

Initial Assembly – with Mr Greenhalgh – Director of Sixth Form and virtual tour of the school

There will be time for student questions at the end of each session.

9.30 am to 10.00am

Block A classes (see below for the blocking structure)

10.30 am to 11.00 am

Block B Classes (see below for the blocking structure)

11.30 am to 12.00 pm

Block C Classes (see below for the blocking structure)

1.30 pm to 2.00 pm

Block D Classes (see below for the blocking structure)

2.30 pm to 2.50 pm

Q&A session with the Sixth form team and Shenley Brook End sixth form students?

Netball virtual training led by Philippa Murrell as part of the Shenley Brook End/Hazeley Netball Academy. These students have already been contacted and have applied for this so ONLY the netball students attend this session.

We do hope every student that has applied can join us on Wednesday 1 July for the Taster day – just in case students miss these lessons, we do record them and they will be made available on the school website.
